Question: What is the difference between a shawl and a cape? They look similar to me.

Answer: The way to tell which type of garment your dealing with is if it has defined arms or does it just drape over your shoulders. This is a good question since both types of garments look very similar in loose structure.

Above, you can see the Chloe cape that has slots for the arms to sit in.

A modern cape doesn't have to have the same "superman look" we all think about when we hear the name. Also capes are not always long in length.

Here is a Burberry shawl worn very loosely. A shawl has more relation to a poncho than the cape.

I don't normally write about fashion shows before fashion week, but for the Chanel show I dared to step out.

I'm so glad that for this upcoming season Chanel looked in a different different for inspiration. At the same time you know Chanel had to stick to the tried and true staple look of the brand.

Lagerfeld's Indian inspiration is very obvious in outfit structure when it comes traditional garb but the only major difference that he made was the color palette. You will not rarely see a Chanel line with a vibrant, loud range of hues and I'm glad that the brand was still channeled it's timeless quality.
